Frequently Asked Questions

Wide selection of pottery How much does it cost?
There is a Studio Fee of £4 per person painting which is a one-off fee per visit. The studio fee includes unlimited studio time (there is a 2 hour limit only if we are turning people away) and access to all of our paints, sponges, brushes, stencils, stamps, books and other decorative materials. It also includes glazing and firing of the piece. The price of the bisque is separate and can range from £3 to £25 (most is between £8 and £13).
Will my piece be food safe?
Yes, all pottery can be used to eat from.
How long does it take to paint?
It depends on you! Most medium sized pieces take about an hour to paint. Obviously, young children will have a shorter attention span.
If I am there all day, do you supply refreshments?
We have a range of fresh ground coffee, pots of tea, soft drinks and cakes.
Can I bring in my own food and drink?
Birthday Parties are welcome to bring their own food, drink etc and groups, such as Hen Parties are welcome to bring alcohol and nibbles.
Wide selection of pottery Do I need a reservation?
It is not essential, but it is advisable to book at weekends, during holidays and half-term, and at seasonal times such as the run-up to Christmas when it is very busy.
How long until I can pick up my piece?
We glaze twice a week, so your pottery will be ready the following Thursday or Sunday.
How old do I need to be?
There are no age requirements. Everyone is welcome. You can be young, old, or in between! Parents or grandparents can bring in the little ones to do footprints or handprints (these make wonderful gifts or mementos!). Young children love to express their artistic talent and we have plenty of pieces that kids like to paint. We are also very popular with couples.
*Please Note: children, by law, must be 14 years old to come along without an adult
I'm not artistic and have never painted before. Can I still do this?
Definitely. You do not have to be artistic to paint, a lot of the pottery has a design on it and we have many design books, stamps, stencils, samples, and pictures to give you ideas and inspire you. Our friendly staff will be happy to advise you on techniques.
What supplies of my own do I need to bring?
Nothing! We supply everything you need. We have paints, stencils, sponges, books, and over 100 different kinds of pottery to choose from.
